Tom Eaves was pleased to get his first goal of the season in the Tigers’ 3-1 victory over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
The striker pounced on a loose back-pass to seal the three points for Hull City at the Memorial Stadium.
“The injury was a bit untimely to be honest,” said Eaves. “It didn’t come at a great time and held me back a few weeks, but fortunately I had the bulk of pre-season under my belt.
“To see out the win on Tuesday at Bristol Rovers was great and being the selfish striker that I am, it was good to get a goal.
“We didn’t start too well and it didn’t really feel like ‘us’ for the first 15 minutes. It was a bit sloppy but once we overcame that, I thought we played really well. We created some good stuff and produced some nice passages of play and then the game swung our way in the second half.
“Keane got us going with the first goal and then for the second goal, I saw the defender slip and I went through on goal. I did actually think about shooting myself, but then I saw Regan arriving at the back post, and it was bread and butter for the lad. It was a great touch and a great finish.”
