Grant McCann will be looking for an immediate response from his side when Hull City travel to Rochdale.
The Tigers’ perfect start to the League One season came to an end following a 4-1 defeat against Fleetwood, with three of the Cod Army’s goals coming after half-time.
And the boss has called for his players to “shake off” the disappointment of that second-half showing and get the season back on track.
“We’ve had a good start with 12 points from 15,” said McCann. “The reality is we’ve had one bad half and that one bad half cost us three goals last week at Fleetwood.
“The reaction in training has been good. This is a very good group of players we’ve got here with tremendous attitudes who want to respond, and that’s what we plan to do at Rochdale.
“Hopefully we can go there in the right frame of mind and shake off what we produced in the second half at Fleetwood.
“The players have responded this week in training. Hopefully we can go there and get back on track.”
Brian Barry-Murphy’s Dale have taken four points from their first five games but McCann believes their performances have warranted more.
“They’re a good footballing team,” he added. “I don’t think the results reflect what the performances have shown in the five games they’ve played.
“They want to play in the right way, which is a testament to the coaches and the manager. We know it’s going to be a good footballing game.”
