Austrian forward Thomas Mayer was born in the Austrian city of Linz in 1995 and began his youth career with SC Schwanenstadt at the age of six.
Spells in the youth teams of LASK Linz and German Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart followed for the 25-year old, who earned 3 caps for Austria U17s before eventually making his senior debut for LASK Linz in March 2016 during a 1-1 draw against FC Wacker Innsbruck.
Mayer enjoyed a successful season with LASK Linz during the 2016/17 campaign as he made 26 appearances for the Austrian Club as they went on to win the 2. Liga title.
During the 2017/18 and 2018/19 season, the forward was loaned out to SV Ried before eventually joining Austria Lustenau for 2019/20, racking up an impressive 15 assists and six goals in 28 appearances.
