Winger McCauley Snelgrove focused on how the team’s hard work secured the Tigers a 3-1 victory over Bristol City U23s in the Professional Development League.
The second-year scholar netted twice as another goal from Ahmed Salam secured the Under-23s the victory at the LNER Community Stadium.
“To get a result against the Southern Champions is obviously credit to what we’re trying to do,” said Snelgrove.
“If I’m honest, we weren’t at our best and the lads know that, but to get the result against Bristol City shows the hard work both on and off the ball. That has won us the game.
“I thought no one could really get a foothold in the game and it was end-to-end. There was 50-50’s everywhere and we didn’t win as many as we should have done in the first half, but second half we won more and that’s why we scored the goals.
“I have to praise the character, because anytime we concede, we always try and rally the troops up together as a team and go again as soon as possible. Luckily for us it was straight after we conceded and then we scored a second straight after that as well and that really killed the game for us. We got the two goals and we just had to see that out by showing professionalism.”
Snelgrove also mentioned about how playing alongside first-team members Max Clark, Jordan Flores and Brandon Fleming helps him develop into a better player.
“It’s great experience for me, especially playing down Brandon’s (Fleming) wing, because he helps you out massively throughout the game. He’s always talking to you, same with Jordan (Flores) and ‘Clarky’ (Max Clark) to be fair. They’re very good professionals and they’re always helping the younger ones out and I thought they played really well.”
