McCann: We Need To Get Our Mojo Back

13 February 2021

Grant McCann admits Hull City need to get their mojo back after the 1-0 home defeat by MK Dons.

Scott Fraser’s 80th-minute penalty settled a tight affair following Greg Docherty's handball, leaving the Tigers with just one win - and one goal - in five league games.

Keane Lewis-Potter, Mallik Wilks and Greg Docherty all spurned chances for the hosts but McCann is refusing to panic.

“We’re going through a spell at the minute,” said McCann. “As a team, we’re snatching at chances.

“As the manager, as staff, as players, we’d be worried if we weren’t creating the opportunities.

“But we are creating the opportunities, we just don’t seem to be finding the back of the net.

“We’ve gone from scoring seven goals in two games against Accrington and Portsmouth to one in five. That’s just how it’s gone for us.

“We’re finding ourselves snatching, missing opportunities, not hitting the target, crossing into the first man, overhitting a cross.

“These are things that are happening to us at this present time and we’ve got to try to find our mojo. We’ve got to try and find our mojo back. That’s as a team.

“Things we’ve been good at this season – i.e. scoring goals all around the team or scoring from a set-play – we’ve lacked in the last five goals and ultimately, it’s cost us points.

“We need to start taking the chances we’re creating but we’re not being ruthless enough. “We need to keep working at it, we need to keep doing it. Repetition, repetition, repetition on the training ground.

“Hopefully when one goes in, the goals will start coming in.”
