Hull City U18 McCauley Power says the team needed to keep pushing and stay focused after a 3-2 defeat against Wigan Athletic.
The Tigers were 2-0 ahead in the game, courtesy of goals from Harvey Carew and Will Jarvis, but a four minute spell saw Wigan come from behind to secure all three points in the Professional Development League.
“We needed to keep fighting until the final whistle,” said Power.
“I think that when we were 2-0 up, I thought we were going to win the game, but unfortunately we took our step off the pedal and we should have kept going until the end.
“We had our lead and they scored their three goals in very quick succession, which obviously is a huge negative on our part, because we were doing really well up to that point.
“We didn’t start the game the best as in the first twenty minutes, we set off at a slow pace and gave them a bit too much respect. However, we did well to get the opener and the period between our two goals, we played very well.
“We have now got to work on understanding that we need to keep our foot on the pedal throughout a game and we’ll look at that in training.”
