Grant McCann says tonight’s Papa John’s Trophy tie against Fleetwood Town is a good opportunity to get some minutes into some players who need it.
The Tigers’ Head Coach reported two injuries ahead of the match, but feels the squad is in a good place as the men in black and amber prepare to tackle a busy schedule in the upcoming weeks.
“Martin Samuelsen is obviously still injured at the minute,” said McCann. Callum Jones is getting better, but I think the rest of the group is okay.
“It was nice to see Josh Magennis and Callum Elder coming back into the fold against Sunderland after a little lay-off, so we’re looking stronger and a few boys will get some minutes tonight against Fleetwood to try and get back up to speed and we’re looking to get into the next round of the cup.
“It’s a really good prospect. Obviously it’s another game against Fleetwood and we seem to like to play them a lot this season. It’s a good opportunity for us to get into the next round and get one step closer to Wembley. If we could do that, it would be great.
“There’s going to be good opportunities for players who need some minutes and possibly some of the younger lads from the under 23s as well so we’re looking forward to it.”
