Hull City U18 Josh Ward has expressed his delight to be back on the pitch, despite suffering a 2-0 home defeat against Birmingham City.
The defender featured for 62 minutes before being substituted for James Carr respectively, as the Tigers were defeated in the U18 Professional Development League.
“I’m delighted to be back,” said Ward. “It’s been a really frustrating period due to injury and it’s been really frustrating to constantly get a set back where you think you’re just about to start and play a game again and then you’re told no again.
“Obviously, it was a difficult game as this was our first game back since the Christmas break, but Birmingham played really well as they’re always good team.
“However, I think we lacked a bit of aggression throughout the game and I think we stood off them a bit and we could have been more aggressive in the press throughout the whole ninety minutes.
“It was great to get sixty minutes in the tank and fingers crossed I can get another sixty minutes or even a full game next week when we face Barnsley.
“Barnsley are another top team and they’ve had some really good results recently, so we’ll look to build on a good week of training ahead and then look forward to the game and hopefully get a good result.”
