Hull City Under-18 Alfie Taylor admitted Coventry City were deserved winners after the Tigers suffered a 4-0 defeat in the Professional Development League.
A brace from Sam Pitts-Eckersall and goals from a trialist and George Burroughs condemned the Tigers to defeat at Bishop Burton College.
“I thought throughout the whole game, we didn’t win any of the first or second balls,” said Taylor.
“Coventry were first to everything and it showed with the result that they wanted it more than us through the whole game.
“I just don’t feel like we made the most of the opportunities we had. We didn’t make any bad balls into good balls and we need to start defending better as we’re conceding too many goals.”
The Under-18’s return to Professional Development League action on Tuesday as they travel to the Nigel Dougherty Academy to face Nottingham Forest Under-18’s and Taylor is keen to make amends.
“Nottingham Forest are a good team. They play some good football and it’s going to be a tough fixture, but we just need to be more compact as a team and not concede as many goals and take our chances when we’re attacking.”
