Grant McCann has revealed that Thomas Mayer will miss the remainder of the season after picking up an injury whilst playing for the Under-23s.
Austrian forward Mayer, who joined the Tigers back in September, limped out of Monday’s game against Barnsley with scans later revealing a broken metatarsal.
“Thomas Mayer limped out of the Under-23s’ game on Monday and he will miss the rest of the season with a broken metatarsal which is disappointing news for us and for him,” said McCann.
“Because of the form of Mallik Wilks, Gavin Whyte, Keane Lewis-Potter, Dan Crowley and James Scott, Thomas has found first team game time limited so far. We’re really disappointed for him with this injury, but we’ll pick him up.”
25-year-old Mayer has made 14 first team appearances since joining the Club.
