Midfielder Louis Beckett says the team were disappointed not to finish the season with a victory, after the Under-23s suffered a 2-0 defeat against Millwall.
Goals in each half from Tyrese Briscoe and Nana Boateng condemned the Tigers to defeat at the KCOM Stadium.
“I thought we played quite well at times during the game,” said Beckett.
“We had a lot of the ball and I thought we kept it moving well, but it was just that final pass or finish that we lacked.
“When Millwall got their first goal, they made it very difficult for us to break them down. Whenever we tried to pass it into midfield or go out wide, it just didn’t come off, because they intercepted it well as the midfield kept a good shape and they made it very difficult for us.”
Beckett added that the experience to play at the KCOM Stadium with first-team players was great, but admitted he would have preferred the three points.
“I’m happy with the experience, but obviously not happy with the result,” added the midfielder.
“It would have been better if we had got the three points, but to play at the KCOM, where all your idols play week in, week out, and get on the pitch is very good.
“It was great to play with experienced players like Max Clark as he helps a lot on the pitch by talking to you throughout the game and I hope I can learn more next year.”
