Full-back Matty Jacob has expressed his delight in signing a new contract with his boyhood club.
The 19-year old, who has been with the club since the Under-9s, penned a new one-year contract to continue his long affiliation with the Tigers.
“I’m happy to be staying at the club,” said Jacob.
“I think I had a good season and I’m glad the coaching staff have recognised that. The club is all I’ve ever known in terms of football, so I’m very happy that my journey can continue here and that I can keep pushing on to the next level.
“My family are really proud of me and I have to thank them as they’ve been really supportive of me from the beginning.
“I think I’ve shown my versatility throughout the season. My natural position is left-back, but if I’m picked at centre-back or right-back, then everyone can expect me to put in a good shift.”
Jacob has predominantly featured in Richard Naylor and Andy Dawson’s Under-23 side and been named captain on a few occasions. The full-back was quick to heap praise on the management duo as he focuses on his targets for the 2021/22 season.
“Richard and Andy have been really good and supportive of me and they’ve got my best interests in mind,” added Jacob.
“With ‘Daws’ being a former Premier League left-back, it doesn’t do any harm getting tips and tricks off him and ‘Nails’ as well. They’re both experienced professionals and have plenty of football knowledge.
“My target now is to go out and get some men’s football. I had a previous loan spell when I was a scholar at Pickering Town, but I’d like to play at a higher level.
"I think that it would be really good for me and my development. Obviously, I would love to make my Hull City debut, but I think I need that experience first of playing men’s football before the manager will roll the dice on me.”
