Leonid Slutsky spoke to the media following Wednesday night's 2-1 defeat at Fulham.
Here's what he had to say...
On the result and performance...
"For the first time we played more defensively because I think that is the reaction to what happened against Derby last Friday. Of course, we maybe lost some confidence after last Friday because we have a lot of younger players, a lot of new players and we are building a new team.
"In the first half we were thinking more about defence and we probably should have got to half time at 0-0 rather than 0-1 down. In the second half, we played much better and got the equaliser. We had a lot of chances to score a second goal, we didn't and now we are very disappointed with the final result.
"I thought we deserved a draw, but we don't have time to be disappointed because we have another match coming on Saturday. It's a difficult time for the team, for me and for our supporters, and I must thank our supporters for coming to the game because it is a difficult one to get to in midweek.
On the goals his side is conceding...
"Of course when you get the equaliser and then concede again it is very difficult for us to then produce a second reaction. We will have a special theoretical lesson on Thursday and talk about a new formation because we are still looking for the best formation and tactical principals with our new players. We must work through these problems together. We can't be frustrated, we must be positive and look forward.
"My best team is one that will play at the maximum level. Of course, we can play much better than we did against Fulham and I hope in the next matches we will play better. We weren't bad against Fulham, but each defeat puts us back some steps and we need to move forward quickly now."
On his side's confidence...
"It's normal for a new team with new players to be a little bit low on confidence after two defeats, one of them 5-0. My target is now to change this and bring the confidence back to the players because they are all good players and a good team. We must show our maximum level in a very short time."
On recent signing Jackson Irvine not playing a part against Fulham..."
He has come into the group late and we are looking at his optimal position in the team. He has had a very serious trip from Australia which isn't easy and we have a lot of options in the central zone. We have a long season and a lot of matches, and Jackson Irvine is one player who can be effective for our team in the future."
