This year’s Non-League Day takes place this coming Saturday, 13th October, and with the Tigers not in action due to the international break it’s a great chance for supporters to take in a non-league match with a number of local sides set to be in action.
Non-League Day has gathered real momentum in recent years and offers a real opportunity to promote the importance of volunteer-led community football and the incredible work that takes place at grass-roots level. Set up in 2010, the day has become an annual part of the football calendar and is always scheduled for a weekend when Premier League and Championship clubs are without fixtures.
North Ferriby are one of our local sides in action on Non-League Day, as they travel to Brigg Town (KO 3pm) in their latest Toolstation Northern Counties Division One fixture. In the same league, East Hull FC – now managed by Tigers legend Dean Windass – play host to Parkgate. Kick-off at Dunswell Park is 3pm.
Goole AFC are in action on home soil on Saturday as they take on Maltby Main at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, while Hall Road Rangers host Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Bridlington Town head to Sheffield to take on Penistone Church FC in the first round of the FA Vase. All games kick-off at 3pm.
