On This Day: Tigers Thrash Birmingham

04 December 2018
A new Club record was set on this day in 1909 when Ambrose Langley’s Hull City side registered an emphatic 7-0 victory over Birmingham City at Anlaby Road.

The final score was the Tigers’ biggest win in their league history up to that point and one that stood for more than a decade until a 10-3 victory over Wolves during the 1919/20 campaign.

Arthur Temple was the star of the show in black and amber, scoring the second hat-trick of his Hull City career, with the other goals provided by the diminutive but dynamic Jack Smith (2), Bill Smith and Andy Browell.

The Tigers’ team that day was: Roughley, Stephenson, McQuillan, Browell G, Browell A, Gordon, Pace, Temple, Smith J, Smith W, Wright.
