Fraizer Campbell’s first half goal earned a second successive league win with the Tigers also keeping a second clean sheet in as many games. Here’s what Adkins had to say afterwards:
“It’s good to get back-to-back wins, and clean sheets as well,” said Adkins.
“Fraizer Campbell was on the mark again and it’s about time that we scored from a corner. We thought a short corner routine might give them a bit of a problem and Jackson’s got a good header on the end of the cross and it’s another one that’s come back off the woodwork, I think that’s five times now in the last two or three games, but thankfully this time Fraizer was there to put the rebound in the net.
“The goal was only what we deserved because we started the game really well. Their goalkeeper made a great save to push Jarrod Bowen’s header onto the bar in the first couple of minutes, Kamil Grosicki had several opportunities and I enjoyed the first half.
“The work-rate, the commitment and the effort of the players to get around the pitch was excellent against a team that has been free-scoring this season. They are the leading scorers in the division but I can’t remember David Marshall really having too much to do.
“We saw the game out and great credit goes to the players and the staff for the hard work they consistently put in.
“It’s back-to-back wins and clean sheets and that only helps to build confidence. We believe in what we’re doing and it’s another good victory. Defensively we were good and we carried a threat going forward. Kamil is getting better with every game that he plays and that is also pleasing. The players are putting the team before themselves, there is a real camaraderie amongst the squad and that can take us a long way.”
