An experienced EFL official, Whitestone refereed his first Football League game in 2005 at Notts County. He has since gone on to referee over 400 EFL games across all divisions, including acting as Fourth Officials for the EFL Trophy Final at Wembley between Coventry City and Oxford United.
Dean then returned to Wembley in 2019 to referee the record breaking EFL Trophy final between Portsmouth and Sunderland, attended by over 85,000 supporters.
So far this season the Northamptonshire-based official has refereed 25 games, where he has produced a total of 68 yellow cards, three reds and awarded six penalties.
Whitestone has refereed nine Blues games in total, with Blues winning four of them, drawing one and losing four, and has previously taken charge of two games involving Hull City during his career, resulting in one win and one defeat for the men in black and amber.
He will be assisted on Saturday by Akil Howson and Geoffrey Russell, with Thomas Bramall acting as the fourth official.
