Having played and coached within professional academy football, England took up the whistle in 2003 to further his football knowledge.
Starting out in the local leagues, he then progressed through the system and became a FIFA & Premier League Assistant Referee in 2012/13 representing The FA at the UEFA Super Cup Final and Euro U19 Final. His last game as an Assistant Referee was the 2015 FA Cup Final before he was promoted to the National List of Referees.
He refereed the League Two Play-Off Final in 2017 between Blackpool vs Exeter City before being promoted to the Select Group 2 list.
England has taken charge of 27 games so far this season – including the Premier League clash between Southampton and Wolves in January – and has produced a total of 72 yellow cards and one red card.
He will be assisted by Nick Greenhalgh and James Mainwaring with David Webb on fourth official duties.
