Ref Watch: Middlesbrough (h)

30 June 2020
Geoff Eltringham will be the man with the whistle for Middlesbrough’s visit to the KCOM Stadium on Thursday night.

An experienced official, Eltringham was appointed to the national list of referees for the 2009/10 season. Now a Select Group 2 match official, Eltringham refereed his first league fixture back in 2009 when he took charge of a League Two fixture between Morecambe and Hereford.

He has since gone on to referee in more than 350 games, with more than 150 of those at Championship level. Eltringham combines refereeing with his role as an FA Core coach, with the aim of providing referees with quality coaching, education and development opportunities, as well as his position as a director with the Durham FA academy.

Eltringham is refereeing Hull City for the second time this season having last taken charge of a fixture involving the Tigers on Boxing Day when Nottingham Forest were the visitors to the KCOM Stadium. He has twice officiated games involving Boro this term against West Brom and Barnsley in December 2019 and February 2020 respectively.

He will be assisted by Michael George and Steven Meredith this afternoon, with Scott Duncan operating as the fourth official.
