Hull City Supporters AFC was established in 1974 by a group of Hull City fans who regularly travelled to away games by coach, and they have been playing on the parks and pitches of the local area on Sunday mornings ever since.
Naturally, the Sunday League outfit have always aimed to play in the famous black and amber colours of their heroes and contacted the Tigers back in 2013 when the Club was delighted to hand over a full set of replica playing kit as well as prizes for a fundraising raffle.
Now, thanks to SportPesa, Hull City Supporters AFC can look forward to another few years without the worry of kit costs with a brand new set of replica shirts, shorts and socks donated to bring their look up to date.
The new kit was handed over by Dean Windass at our recent home game against Wigan Athletic, and Shaun Simmonds, Head of Marketing at SportPesa, was delighted to help, saying: “Hull City supporters have been central to the success of the Kits for Africa campaign. This is an initiative that we launched with the Club three years ago as Kits for Kenya and the continued generosity of the Hull City supporters and the Football Club itself has seen the campaign go from strength to strength. We’re delighted to be in a position to give back to the fans and donate this kit to Hull City Supporters AFC and wish them the very best of luck for the future.”
As well as the kit, the Tigers have also donated a signed shirt for the Sunday League club to raffle at a reunion dinner being held to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Hull City Supporters AFC, and Club Secretary Colin Smith and Chairman Graham Hardy are keen to hear from as many former players as possible who may be interested in attending.
The dinner-dance is being held at the Royal Hotel in Hull on the evening of Saturday 11th May, and past and present players can contact Colin (07968 093842) or Graham (07740 290294) for more details with a limited number of subsidised tickets still available.
On behalf of Hull City and SportPesa, we hope that Hull City Supporters AFC continue to play in the Hull Sunday Football League for many years to come.
