Toral: We Must Stand Up And Be Counted

21 August 2018
Jon Toral has called on his Hull City team-mates to stand up and be counted ahead of tonight’s Sky Bet Championship trip to Rotherham United.

The Tigers have registered just one point from a possible nine in their opening three Sky Bet Championship fixtures and the Spanish midfielder insists everyone in the camp must pick themselves up quickly as they bid for a first league win of the season at the New York Stadium.

“We want the three points at Rotherham and our first league win of the season,” he said.

“The manner of the Blackburn defeat was disappointing. The performance just wasn’t there and we know we need to be better than we were on Saturday in order to get the result we want tonight.

“We’ve got to go to Rotherham, show our character and show what we’re made of as a team. We need to step up to the plate and produce a performance worthy of getting the win.

“We cannot afford to underestimate Rotherham though. They’re the home side and will want to bounce from a disappointing result of their own at the weekend.

“However, we’ve got to show we want it more than they do. We’ve got to compete from the first kick right up until the last. We just have to keep going and going.

“It’s all about producing a positive response now. Games in the Championship come thick and fast, but we’ve done our recovery process in the right way and our only focus is on getting the result we all want to kick-start our season.”
