The Tigers travel to Swansea City on Saturday before hosting Bristol City on the final day of the season and, although Adkins may give an opportunity to one or two of the Club’s promising youngsters, six points is very much the target against opposition still harbouring play-off hopes.
“My responsibility is to Hull City and we are going out looking to win both of these games,” said Adkins, whose own hopes of a top six finish ended over the Easter weekend.
“I’m very conscious about doing right by everybody else, but the most important thing is that I do right by this football club and that will be the basis upon which I pick the team for the weekend.
“If you don’t give a youngster the opportunity to play, when do you give them an opportunity? It was a big call to put George Long in the team last Monday, but it was the right call.
“I’ll be putting a team out that will go and work really, really hard for the football club. Swansea City are a very good footballing side and they have lots of strengths. They are great in possession of the football, but we have strengths ourselves and we’ll be going down there to do everything that we can to win the game.
“We’re really appreciative of the supporters who will be travelling down there and we want them to have a good day out knowing that the players are having a real go.”
