The game against the Rams marks the first of six league games to be played before the end of September, and Meyler will be looking for his side to register points as they aim to get into the thick of things at the top end of the table.
“As a team we had a good win just before the international break and we need to build on that now,” said Meyler.
“You now look at this next run of fixtures and I believe we can win them all. We need to pick up some momentum and win games.
“Our aim since the beginning of pre-season has been to win promotion back to the Premier League and to do that, games like tonight are ones we need to be winning so we will be going there trying to get the three points.
“It’ll be a tough one tonight because Derby are usually there or thereabouts. Of course, the last time we played them was in the play-offs – we turned them over at their place and they turned us over at ours although we just about did enough to make it through.
“Their aim this season is the same as ours and I’m sure it will be a tough night.”
Although Meyler was away with the Republic of Ireland during the international break, the midfielder has had time to reflect on the Tigers’ start to the season which has brought two wins and a draw from five league games.
“It’s been alright but no more than that,” added Meyler.
“I said a few words after the defeat at QPR because we should have been more dogged and streetwise to see the game out rather than losing it late on.
“Overall, it has been alright although we should have more points on the board. With a few new additions, we’re looking forward to the next month up to the next break and we’ll be looking to win as many games as possible.”
