Thursday night’s home win over Middlesbrough kicked off a punishing run of seven games in the space of just 21 days, with a swift conclusion to the 2019/20 campaign required after the season was postponed for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Next week sees Grant McCann’s men face back-to-back away games against West Brom and Bristol City on Sunday and Wednesday respectively before returning to action in HU3 when hosting Millwall the following Saturday – with Wilks unfazed by the busy calendar ahead.
“I prefer the games to come thick and fast as they are in the next few weeks,” he said.
“I think everybody in our changing room is just happy to have football back. We just want to keep on playing as much as possible.
“We won against Boro last time out and got a point at Birmingham last weekend, so we just want to keep going and try to build on the positivity from our last two results.
“The last six games are going to be massive and we don’t want to take out foot off the gas. We just want to keep driving forward and keep pushing for more wins and more points.
“It’s going to be a tough game against West Brom on Sunday, but we’ll go there with confidence in our ability to get a result.”
